A SIMPLE REFLECTION PIECE

When I was editing my YouTube video this morning, I incidentally came across several clips I filmed of myself 6 months into training. [Reference: 13:23 to 13:47 (YouTube Video)]
I cannot exactly pin point what it was about these clips, but they brought back many emotions and feelings.
I think back to the me who signed up for Muay Thai because I wanted a boost in self-confidence (and also because I didn’t want to die to some random c*nt on the streets if my life came down to it).
I see the discipline and perseverance in showing up consistenly at training 4-5 times/week and never taking any weeks off since I started this journey back in May 2023.
I see how I went from someone who was 100% clueless about Muay Thai, to a person who is now maybe 99% clueless about Muay Thai.
I see growth - Not only in the technique, pad work and sparring, but personal growth.
The Caleb now, compared to the Caleb who first walked into the gym, is happier, more confident, more assertive, more fulfilled and more satisfied with his life.
I am eternally grateful for this beautiful art, the lessons it’s taught me, and the many amazing people I’ve met on this journey.
I reflect back to the newsletter I sent last week.
As great as it is to have an inner Goggins that constantly pushes me to be better, I’m learning it is mandatory to reflect on your journey and celebrate the accomplishments you’ve achieved, no matter how small they might seem to you.
In this relentless pursuit of being better than yesterday, I feel sometimes we can get so caught up with what we have to do tomorrow or how much more we have to improve to get to where we want to be, without taking the time to actually look back and examine the progress we’ve made.
As I enter into my late 20s, I’m learning the increasing importance of practising gratitude and sustainability - How we can do that one thing (or many things) for not only the next few months or years, but for decades to come.
Dear friend,
On this beautiful Sunday evening, what is one thing you are grateful for?

That one aspect of your life you are consciously working on to improve - How can you do it in a way that allows you to be consistent for the years to come?
